Soldier On - Job Ready Program

One of the services Soldier On can connect veterans and their families to is their Job Ready program, run in conjunction with partners at Frontier People. 
If you have been affected by your service and are looking for meaningful employment, they can offer assistance with CV development, career coaching and interview advice.

Deputy Commissioner Appointment

Ms Leanne Cameron commenced as the new Deputy Commissioner, South Australia, on 30 June. 
Ms Cameron has been with DVA since 2001 in a number of client contact and health related roles, including Deputy Commissioner, Northern Territory, since August 2013. 
She brings significant experience in stakeholder engagement and a passion for delivering quality to her new role in South Australia.

Anxiety is a normal part of life and can be useful when it alerts you to danger. However, when anxiety interferes with normal life activities such as work or sleep it can disrupt relationships and the enjoyment of life, and over time can lead to poor health and other problems. 
VVCS can assist you to manage your anxiety more effectively through both the Mastering Anxiety Group Program and counselling.

Australian Defence Force Assistance Trust

If you know someone in the Defence community who is struggling to meet financial commitments as a result of incapacity, death or injury, the Australian Defence Force Assistance Trust may be able to help.

The Australian Defence Force Assistance Trust is a charity helping current and former members of the Australian Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as their families following the death or severe injury of their loved one as a result of service with the ADF, particularly in recent conflicts.

These SoPs revoke the SoPs previously determined for these conditions.

The above determinations conclude the previously advertised investigations into:
  • acute myeloid leukaemia
  • myelodysplastic disorder [now known as myelodysplastic syndrome]
  • myasthenia gravis

  • depressive disorder
  • cardiomyopathy
  • chicken pox [now known as chickenpox]
  • malignant neoplasm of the gallbladder
  • arachnoid cyst of the brain [now known as arachnoid cyst]
The above SoPs take effect from 20 July 2015.


Determined an Amendment SoP for:
  • non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma…………………………….93/2015
This Amendment SoP concerning non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma has effect from 27 April 2015 and is made in accordance with the direction of the Specialist Medical Review Council. 



Decided to advertise the following investigations
  • schizophrenia
  • suicide and attempted suicide
  • panic disorder (focussed review – definition of panic disorder & mefloquine)
  • anxiety disorder (focussed review – definition of anxiety disorder & mefloquine)
The Investigation Notices for these investigations will appear in the Government Notices Gazette of 30 June 2015.

The RMA has introduced significant change to the format of the Statements of Principles determined by it under the VEA.  The changes were introduced to make the relationship between the provisions of the SoPs and the legislative framework for their creation and use clearer, and to make the SoPs more accessible to users.
